Top 10 Restaurants in Oceanside
by Melia Indra,
“It isn’t about who we are. It is about who you are. Thank you for making us part of the Oceanside culture.”
LTH’s chef Dan is on point with tasty foods that re-define and elevate your expectations of 'bar food”. Huge open garage doors slide up, with various seating styles, and a long row of taps that featured many local brews. Drive by any day of the week and see crowds and a good vibe. The menu changes with the seasons, some of my favorites included the mac & cheese with fancy broccoli assortments, pulled pork dishes, and the “Pacific Storm” whisky cocktail.
I’m proud to have a high end restaurant like Masters in the community. The design work is gorgeous, with rustic industrial touches and open window to watch the cooks do their magic. It’s hip and trendy and located on the Coast Hwy. Focused menu, all delicious choices, On-spot service. Great for date nights, girls night out, and small groups or just to grab a cocktail at their long gorgeous bar.

# 3 Wrench & Rodent Seabasstropub
Wrench and the Rodent is a hidden gem in Oceanside that is making waves as the new Hot Spot for your sushi fix. Recognized by local magazines, .executive Chef Davin Waite’s (owner), does an outstanding job of combining creativity with flavor creating delicious seafood creations. The atmosphere has a hipster vibe, eclectic non-traditional with small seating and quaint sushi bar.

# 4 The Flying Pig
Built from a former auto shop ,this restaurant has a unique frontage and is off the beaten path. Restaurant is noisy but vibrant, full of energy, dimly lit, good for fun date night, group of friends who want something different on the menu - perhaps pork in a variety of ways. This restaurant is Farm to Table that grows many of their own vegetables. Drinks menu is great, cocktails, micro brews, good wine list,
626 South Tremont Street, Oceanside, CA
# 5 Miso Harney Sushi
“Fresh Cuts….Cool Beats” Harney Sushi is a sustainable upscale restaurant that provides an excellent experience of coolness. Experimental sushi rolls, sashimi, and San Diego’s only Sake Bar is located in downtown Oceanside. Great choice for fun date night, small groups who want fun atmosphere. At night some live mixed music gives it a night club feel, there's even a place to shake your thing. Overall cool younger vibe, but still attracts all age groups. I’m in love with the Chuck Norris roll, try it!. A few years ago this would have been my #1, but fierce competition is rolling in, and sometimes the new and fresh get a little more love. #sorryimnotsorry
# 6 The Privateer Coal Fire Pizza
Hidden away in a small building along the Pacific Coast Highway in Oceanside is a great little gem. It may not look like much from the outside, but go in and sample the food and you will want to stay for more. Their specialty is coal-fired pizza, thin crust that rivals true Italian pizza crust. I'm obsessed with the gnocchi as well. “The Privateer takes great care and pride in the natural ingredients we add into all of our recipes. We utilize organic greens, spices, veggies and herbs grown in our local neighborhood at Cyclops Farms - 1 mile away”. I love that they added outside seating, to serve the over flow of people, and the acoustics were getting a bit loud, so good move Privateer!

# 7 Buccaneer Cafe
Many a hungover morning have I only wanted One Thing. The Best breakfast burritos and views in town! This little place is a secret. Well, not really... Locals and area vacationers alike will be lined up at this seaside shack. Great people watching. You can sit outside across from the beach and watch the waves and the surfers. Music plays in the background and lots of palm trees. It's an amazing way to start a coastal day.

# 8 Ty’s Burger House
A DEFINITE stop for burger lovers in the Oceanside area. Friendly casual family-owned eatery a few blocks from the beach in Oceanside’s buzzy downtown area. The burgers are great with huge selection of meat, including grass fed beef. The fries impress, as do the salads, and beer on tap. Great food, locally owned and run, sit inside or out.

# 9 BLVD
BLVD is a welcome addition to the lovely explosion of new restaurants in Oceanside. My friend, Chef Judy recommend it, and said she's been on the search for great Chinese food since moving from Boston. It’s just very light, very flavorful, very fresh fusion Chinese food. The chef is from Hong Kong, and his Chinese food is the best in San Diego. Small local in a charming building. If you appreciate Chinese food, you can't pass up the BLVD.

# 10 BarrelRepublic
Pour It Yourself. Just provide a credit card and ID to get your wristband. All Beer, wine, coffee, kombucha, mead you pour is charged to your wristband. You grab a glass, choose your drink, hold the wristband up to the lower right corner of the wooden sign and start pouring! There are 60 kegs of chilled beer on tap. It's a indecisive person’s dream. You can essentially just taste beers or wine all night without having to bug a bartender for every one. Food is made fresh from scratch daily, great selection and high quality of the food choices. This could of also been # 1...but I don't always know what I'm doing. Plus - I'm not a beer lover like my husband, and I'm writing this list LOL.
215 North Coast Highway, Oceanside, CA 92054
Oceanside is sprouting out with restaurants that are hipper and more delicious than surrounding neighborhoods - so there is definitely way more to try. Here's what's on my list....
